                                       Blood Wedding

By Lorca

This piece I designed as part of my final year projects of my degree. The Abbey Theatre, Dublin was my chosen venue for this project. The design extracts elements of Andalusian life and landscape prior to the Spanish Civil War such as caves, hills of cork trees, ecclesiastical structures and lace commonly worn at the time. The main element is the idea of unraveled lace - a metaphor for the narrative. By creating this, it can look both delicate and light - like lace, or dramatic, organic and heavy like caves and ecclesiastical structures in order to coincide with the narrative. Below are some sketches of concept art along with final model box renderings under a variety of lighting to portray different scenes.
